2003

  • June 3rd the Club voted to commit $1,000 to the Veterans Memorial
  • On June 14th the Lions Club painted a house at 1825 South Seventh Street.
  • The Keokuk Lions Clubs and the Keokuk Rotary Club worked together to plant 50 Spruce trees along U.S. Highway 61 South to beautify the southerly entrance to Keokuk.
  • $50 to Lee County H.O.P.E.S.
  • $500 Scholarship to S. Derr

2002

  • On September 3, 2002 the Keokuk Lions Club Sponsored the Glaucoma mobile, which provided free glaucoma and diabetes screening to 80 people with 25 people referred for further ocular testing and 14 referred for further diabetes testing. The glaucoma-screening program is a cooperative effort in the prevention of blindness by the Iowa Lions Foundation and the Iowa Optometric Association.
  • On June 1st the Lions Club painted the trim and deck on the Keokuk Area Group Home’s house located at 317 High Street
  • Sent Brett Mackie to a diabetes camp at the cost of $210.00

1999

  • Remodel Lion’s Club dressing room at Grand Theatre
  • Pledged $2,000 to the Iowa Lions “Coming to Your Senses” program.
  • Contributed $100 to Big Brothers Big Sisters 2nd Annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake.
  • May - Painted House at 506 Johnson St. Rd.? or 1900 Williams St.? two homes?
  • Two Scholarships; to Joel Muilenburg (Cardinal Stritch) and Lisa Skinner (Keokuk Senior High).

1998

  • Built Shelter at Park and furnished 2? picnic tables for use at the shelter.
  • Donated $200 to City of Christmas and Salvation Army .
  • Paint house at 1203 Timea?

Pre-1971:

  • Purchased land at the approach to the Municipal Bridge and turned it over to the City.
  • Built the shelter house in the tourist area of Rand Park.
  • Built a cabin for the YMCA Friendly House Camp “Paqotce”
  • Furnished lighting for Glenn Koch Football field which was replaced by Calvert Field.

Fund Raising Events

  • Grand Lunch Chilli Supper – February each year
  • Civil War Reenactment – April each year
  • White Canes Day – May each year
